Short short story
Once upon a time there was a chicken named Margarita that lived on a farm in up-state New York. Being a chicken, she had no idea what was to be her fate; Christmas dinner. She pecked around in her coop, unknowingly eating the food that would make her plump and delicious. But! One fine Sunday morning, Margarita laid a spotted egg. Farmer Heinrich, a very superstitious man, deemed Margarita his magic key to the afterlife. In a fit of intense, spiritual arousal, Farmer Heinrich sacrificed his own life and Margarita's, thinking...believing that he would wake up in heaven. No one ate Christmas dinner that year.
